Fillers In Toronto

Dermal fillers are used to create smooth, youthful-looking skin by filling in areas that lack volume. As we age, we lose soft tissue volume, our skeletal bone resorbs, and we lose elasticity and collagen in our skin. These changes result in visible signs of aging.

Dermal Fillers offered In Toronto

At SKN we use Juvederm®, Restylane® and Radiesse® to restore or add volume to deficient areas to combat the signs of aging.

Are these treatments safe?

Although you might be hesitant to inject your body with something, these products have all been tested and Health Canada/FDA approved and are expertly administered by one of our highly trained physicians.

How long will my appointment take?

These simple injections are a quick procedure, only between 15–30 minutes.

What can I expect during my treatment process?

At your consultation visit we will discuss what results you would like to see and how we are going to get you there. Prior to injection, a topical numbing cream may be applied to the target area, ensuring your comfort throughout the injection process. Small amounts of the product are then administered to the target area. You will then have an opportunity to talk about the results and we can make small adjustments until you are satisfied. The process is easy, safe, and relatively painless.nnTREATMENT TIMEn15 – 30 minnPAIN LEVELnNone to mildnRECOVERY TIMEnNonenANESTHESIA TYPEnTopical numbing cream

What are the types of filler?

Juvederm LinenJuvederm is a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler. It works to add volume to facial tissues, resulting in smoother, more youthful looking skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the human body and skin. As we age, collagen and hyaluronic acid production slow leading to sagging and wrinkling of skin. Juvederm is injected directly into the target area and is usually associated with little to no discomfort.nRestylane LinenRestylane is a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler used to add volume to facial tissues. This results in smoother, younger looking skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the human body and skin. Restylane was the first hyaluronic acid to get FDA approval for injection into sub-dermal facial tissues. Restylane is injected directly into the target area and comes with little to no discomfort.nRadiesse®nRadiesse® uses calcium based microspheres to correct wrinkles, fine lines, and folds in the face and hands. These microspheres stimulate collagen production, leading to healthier, smoother, younger looking skin. Radiesse® is made from calcium hydroxyapatite, a mineral found in human teeth and bones. After stimulating collagen production, the calcium and the gel used to suspend the calcium are absorbed by the body and naturally expelled. Radiesse® is injected directly into the target area with little to no pain and no downtime is required.

Does Restylane work immediately?

You will see improvements immediately but full results typically take 2 weeks to finalize.

Do Restylane bumps go away?

Most filler bumps and lumps take 2 weeks to resolve. Dr. Pirani assesses for these at the follow-up appointments and most of these can be massaged away relatively easily if they persist.

How long do Restylane fillers last?

Most Restylane filler treatments show results for 9-12 months. Some areas will generally see greater longevity such as the undereye (lower eyelid) area. Some areas typically last a shorter duration such as the lips (6-9 months).

Can Restylane cause blindness?

Any dermal filler has the potential to get into a vessel and cause blindness. This risk is usually very low. Dr. Pirani will discuss this risk during your consultation.

Does Radiesse build collagen?

Radiesse treatment does stimulate the production of naturally-occurring collagen.
