Jeuveau (Nuceiva in Canada)
Jeuveau is a newer neuromodulator or botulinum toxin injectable. Also called “Newtox,” Jeuveau works similarly to Botox by using botulinum toxin A to temporarily prevent muscle contractions and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles on the overlying skin. A different form of botulinum toxin using a more purified substance is used for Jeuveau so some patients may have better results with one product over the other. Additionally, Jeuveau is only approved for aesthetic purposes, not medical treatments such as Botox for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
Who is a Candidate for Jeuveau?
Most men and women who want to improve the appearance of forehead wrinkles can benefit from Jeuveau. You should wait to receive treatment if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have an active skin injection in the treatment area. Patients who are allergic to botulinum toxin are not candidates for Jeuveau or other neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin.
What to Expect During Jeuveau Treatment
To start your Jeuveau treatment a few injections are made into the muscles using a fine needle. The entire treatment takes less than 15 minutes.
After Jeuveau injections, mild swelling and injection site redness is common but should subside within a few hours. Avoid strenuous activity and exercise for 24 hours since this could cause the product to shift. Results will start to develop within 72 hours although it can take up to 14 days to see the full effect. Results typically last 3-4 months and can be maintained with additional maintenance treatments.
Jeuveau is Used to Treat:
Frown lines: also known as glabellar lines or 11 lines because they develop vertically between the brows
Forehead lines: horizontal creases in the forehead.
Crow’s feet: fine lines at the corners of the eyes
Bunny lines: fine lines on the sides of the nose
Dynamic lines: fine lines that appear with facial movements like laughing or smiling
Is Jeuveau a filler?
Jeuveau is not a filler. Its a botulinum type A injection similar to Botox.
